Hey, I'm Pontus.
I’m a Junior Web Developer & UX/UI Designer currently studying System Development .NET at TUC.
I previously studied Graphic Design & Web Development at Jönköping University.
WHO?
I am a calm, friendly and laid-back guy who’s structured to a fault. You’ll never see me miss a deadline or show up late to an appointment. But if it happens, then it’s definitely because of the public transportation. That’s a joke, I always take an earlier bus just in case.
I’ve grown up with the internet, which is probably how I ended up with an interest in websites back in 2007-2008 without knowing that it was design at large that I found so compelling. Either way, I ended up on a long journey as a mostly self-learned web designer & hobbyist for most of my teenage years until I started studying Graphic Design & Web Development at Jönköping University in 2015.
Now in 2024 I felt it was time to dig deeper and challenge myself by heading into uncharted territory, so I found myself studying System Development .NET at TUC Sweden in Linkoping.
A new Journey has now begun learning C# while aiming to become a full-stack developer.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH CODING
As a developer I mainly specialize in front-end development, I was first introduced to HTML and CSS over a decade ago and have been honing my basic skills continuously since then.
Responsive design is something I’m also well familiar with and always take into consideration. I was a bit slow with picking up JavaScript before it all finally clicked, but I now consider myself fairly knowledgeable and have started delving deeper into what JavaScript has to offer. Most notable is that I’ve started getting into the Node.js server environment with express.js & MongoDB. (which is how I built my portfolio)
I also have some experience with basic PHP, MySQL, and WordPress themes as my final college project was to create a simple Content Management System, and since then I have attended two different courses at Uni named Applied Web Architecture 1 and Applied Web Architecture 2 which focused on these subjects, though it was a while ago and I consider myself quite rusty.
Lately I’ve started to learn C# in the .NET environment.
DESIGN IN MY BLOOD
I’ve always had an interest in design, but it wasn’t until the last few years or so that I truly started to focus on improving as a designer, I was always so focused on the code part of web development that I mostly forgot about the design part of it.
This was one of the main reasons why I decided to study Graphic Design & Web Development at Jönköping University. While studying at JTH I also got to learn a lot about digital marketing, photography and video editing among other things, all of which gave me a deeper understanding of different types of design, while also expanding my creativity as a whole—although I still have a long way left to go, since I as a designer are still far behind myself as a developer.
When working on design projects I mainly have experience with Adobe applications such as InDesign, Illustrator and Adobe XD. But I also have some minor experience with Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
During recent years I have been trying to change my workflow to a more iterative process to incorporate what I have learned about UX/UI Design. Such as incorporating stages of research, LoFi wireframe production, HiFi mockup prototype production and finally coding as a part of my process to properly separate design and code into two different phases of development.
